What was I thinking...

When I had more than one child? No really! This week Clay has been an only child. I use to say I could do one child, blindfolded and hogtied. I'm pretty certain of that probability. It has been so calm, so easy and a real joy to have one child. To make life even easier, it has been Clay and I only. Chuck has been at work. We have gone out to eat everyday, stayed up late, had half of his team over for lunch and to play yesterday. What a breeze.

Why do we only have Clay? He's playing all-star baseball and he couldn't go on vacation. The grandmothers wants the kids to go on vacation right as school is out and it really isn't condusive to the kids baseball schedule. Zach and Luke are in Florida, and Wesley is in Texas (getting a much needed break from the family and some one on one, that he needs desperately.)

Clay's team has done well. They came in third in a 12 team round robin tournament. Right now they are in second in an 8 team round robin. They play for first place on Thursday night. Clay has had a great season! There have been several innings he's made at least two of the outs in an inning on defense. He's trying hard to make all three outs. His offense has been great too, he's had several doubles, line drives or outfield flies (there are no triples in 8 year olds and only an occasional homerun.) He got a new bat (Techzilla) and he loves it. He's hoping for a homer before the season ends. He's just a few feet off the mark.

I may be selling a few boys next week, stay tuned...

Andrea,
It is too bad that we can't have four kids but raise them one at a time until they are about 12 or so. Just before their teen years. Then they could help out with the next one and learn something about raising kids as well.

I wanted my kids to grow up together and enjoy each other. But, I'm thinking your idea would have been a wise move 12 years ago. I would have a one year old right now. No that's too scary!
