Student of the...

month is an honor bestowed on two or three students from each team in our middle school. Zachary was one of the recipients who earned that honor this month. So did his best friend, the young man who went to camp with Zack this summer.

Zack and his friend are so much alike. The boys compliment one another in many areas of their lives. They love to do the same things like hang out in the woods looking for deer tracks or other wildlife, and sit and play video games. They are both low key, and down to earth young men. I couldn't have hand picked a better friend for Zack.

A fun memory making day the boys shared recently was taking their hunting test. The dads took them, bright and early to test, on the bow, a shotgun, a rifle and a paper test. What a great rite of passage for the boys to share with each other and their dads. Zack's strength was in the bow, and his friend was in the shotgun, they both scored similar on the paper test. I doubt either of the boys will forget they shared this special day.

We pray for his friend on a regular basis and Zack invites him to go to every teen event our church sponsors. We're hoping that one day he'll see a need for a daily relationship with God and become an Heir to the King.

My dad was in the military, as an adult I don't have friends from my childhood. I enjoy watching their friendships develop and grow over the years. It's been a blessing to see these friendships and wonder how long they will last.

How about you? Do you have childhood friendships that have blessed your life? I'd love to know.

Congratulations to Michael and Zack on your student of the month honor! I'm proud of you both.

Yes, I do. Chris and I have known each other since the early '60s. We are total opposites in so many ways, but we have weaved in and out of each others lives since then. We became much closer when we lived in PA and Chris and her family moved to our area and we attended church together and our children then became very close. We have been through many stages of lives and we are more interwined with each event. God is our "rope" throughout all these events. She is someone that I can laugh with, cry with, share with, love with, learn from and respect. How wonderful for God to have people in our lives that though we are very different we have such a strong "rope" that we are so tightly put together. I love her to pieces. We now see that our children's lives are intertwined and we are watching their lives develop as ours did too. It's a wonderful life...."roped" by God and sealed with our faith. God is good all the time...All the time God is good.
