Three local politicians...

live right under my roof. Two of our boys are Student Council Representatives for their classes, and one is the Good Will ambassador for his class.

Zack was nominated for Student Council Rep. by another student, and won by two votes. He wouldn't have run on his own, but he's happy for the opportunity.

Wesley, ran without telling us he was running, and won by a landslide! I wonder if his promise of a pizza party to the hungry masses swayed any voters? (The true politician in the family.)

Clay intended to run for Student Council, but was chosen to be his classes Good Will Ambassador, so he opted not to run for Student Council, in order to give someone else a chance.

Luke was Good Will Ambassador last year, which makes him ineligible this year. They don't have Student Council Representatives in the second grade.

I was so impressed with my HOUSE HONEY (my new nickname for my husband, who makes a great housewife. I'll blog on him later.) and how he explained to the boys what God is teaching them about leadership, by allowing them to be Representatives and Ambassadors. It was a teachable moment that he seized so eloquently. The boys responded to what he had to say with a deeper realization that God is IN CONTROL OF ALL.

One of my husbands constant prayers is that God will teach the boys how to step up and be leaders at a young age. It's taken Chuck a long time to be comfortable stepping up to be a leader, but he's done it. Being a leader doesn't come natural to him. I am so proud of how he's pushing himself, and encouraging, no, expecting leadership of our boys too. Some are rising to the expectation, some are bucking it. We'll keep praying and encouraging.

Tomorrow my HOUSE HONEY gets to give a pizza party to help one local politician keep his word. My initial reaction (internally), to Wesley promising the pizza wasn't a happy one, I was annoyed and intended to make him pay for the pizza. After mulling it over, what I concluded is, Wesley knows he can count on us to follow through. I'm happy that he knows we're there for him, it's a sense of security. He's comfortable with the fact that we will support him. I'm grateful he feels like he belongs. But, he may be a little too comfortable...hmmmm!
