Benefit of the doubt...

On two occasions this past week I have witnessed what happens when people aren't willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Rifts in friendships, tears, heartbreak, and loss of respect for one another, are just a few that come to mind.

I'm not sure if it's the dichotomy of being a christian, living in the world, that causes me to be so frustrated by this seemingly simple to solve issue, by giving the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes inside me there is a place that wishes I could make it all better. I wish words would flow that would be firm and loving enough to help people see the error of their ways, and heal pain. I am reminded by my thoughts that this may have been what Jesus felt while walking to his death, cross in tow, amongst sinners. There is no need for words, His death said it all. Thank you Lord for the sacrifice. In it, you gave us the benefit of the doubt, as being worthy of saving us from ourselves!

Give someone the benefit of the doubt. Believe something good about someone, rather than something bad, when you have the possibility of doing either. It is without a doubt a Christ like principle as a servant leader.
