Years ago I bought a book at Shoprite for all the wrong reasons. The book was on clearance, I paid cents for it on the dollar, and I liked the title and cover. My mom came to visit one time, while she was here she asked what books I had around. I offered her "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd. She read it, raved about it and encouraged me to read it. I started it last summer and lost it in a friends car when we went to Eagle's training camp (a big mistake). School started and I just didn't have the time to read for pleasure. I was determined to read it during this three week break between classes. I'm so glad I did. What a great book! I could say the cliche' "couldn't put it down...yadda, yadda, yadda." That would be true, but more than that her writing is captivating. Her descriptions are so vivid. I felt what she is saying, I understood on a level that was organic and without a doubt universal. If I were an author, I'd want to write like Sue Monk Kidd. I can't wait until the middle of July when classes are over and I read "The Mermaid Chair."
