Nine days and counting...

I'm just 9 days from turning in my paper on monsters. Wow! I can't believe I've survived the last 14 weeks. I've spent the better part of three weeks in great angst over this paper. I've had some organizational issues, and some paragraph transition issues, but no content issues (that's a good thing). I'm still at 3 plus pages shy of having 30 pages. I have material to add, and some more re-organizing of thoughts. I'm not completely happy with it, but I know I'll pass the class. Dear old mom is editing the MONSTER paper for me. Whew... what a task.

Presentations of the papers began this week. I go next Tuesday (April 29th). I thought I'd do a blog that I could add to. Now I'm planning on a straight forward presentation with no technology. My professor likes tech. and is the tech guru in our department, but some things I think he likes simplified. He's put NO restrictions on our presentations other than a 10 minute min. & max.

I've learned three things from this course:

1) I don't plan to be a scholarly writer. I can live with that. It was never a dream of mine.

2) I don't plan to get my PhD. I struggled with organizing a 30 pages paper, I'd never get through a 300 page paper. Something else I can live with. It wasn't a childhood dream either.

3) I still don't like monsters in film, but I can read about certain monsters intended for adults. I liked Beowulf. What can I say? I'm weird.

If I had it to do all over again:

1) I'd study Jack the Giant Killer, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Jack the Ripper. I'd title my paper Monster's don't know Jack

2) I'd take the same prof.

3) I would have taken a lit. class in the fall term before this course, to keep the creative juices flowing.
