Friendship evangelism...

Dan the Preacherman (One of our talented preachers at Pitman) developed a program with the title "Friendship Evangelism." My children have never been taught the program, but they are living examples of how to do it. Each of our boys have invited friends over the last several years. Why? They are excited about church and God. Clay and Luke had a friend go with us for about three months. One of Wesley's friends goes with us faithfully every week. He calls us to ask if he can go! Another friend has just joined in and has gone three weeks in a row. I'm amazed for as far away as we live from the building that these kids are so eager to go.

Zack has invited friends too. One would go all the time, but his parents asked what he liked best about going. His reply, "Man hunt!" Many of the boys play games before and after church. So I'm sure Man Hunt was a priority! His parents didn't think it was right for him to go for that reason alone. I didn't mind. I figured in playing Man Hunt they'd find Jesus along the way. Zack asked him to go to the Jr. High retreat this weekend, he is going. They are both excited!

The one friend of Wesley's who goes with us weekly (for about 5 months now) said to him just after we put the house on the market "How will I get to church when you move?"

I cried when Wesley told me. God has a plan, maybe staying here is it? It may be for ONE soul...ONE is important to God! One is greater than none 1>0.

What if?

What if one boy went to a christian college with Wesley? What if one boy married a Christian girl? What if they had children who invited friends to church... and the cycle continued..? God can do a lot with just ONE!

What if we all invited just ONE? Yet another lesson from the least of these! Remember 1>0.

Oh, how we learn from the children. Tears fill my eyes as I read your blog tonight. The love of God is bursting through your lives. How blessed to have a place of worship that your children are eager to bring them in. What a lesson to learn. How true about the "one" being the reason for you possibly staying in your current home. Prayers continue for you and yours. Give our love to Chuck and the boys. I look forward meeting Zach's friend this weekend at the retreat.
