What more could a mother ask for...

At times I'm exhausted by parenting. Some of it is my nature to be frazzled by stress, some of it is I am worn down by being a single parent a great deal of the time. I often wonder how effective I am and in the long run how will my children suffer from my shortcomings as a mom. I know children are flexible and as humans we are incredible at adapting.

Today was school conferences for three of our sons. God blessed us with wind so Chuck was able to attend with me. Most teachers begin the conference with a positive note and then they lay the negative on you. During Clay's conference they detailed each subject and said how well he was doing, they said he gets their sense of humor, that he's bright, helpful to an autistic boy in the classroom setting as well as in the cafeteria, and playground so much so that other teachers notice. We asked them to check the file and verify the student ID number because we were sure they had mistaken our son with another child. Sure enough we checked the Student ID number and spelling of his name C-L-A-Y (not to many of those around!) It all matched. Seriously, he is a sweet boy and we know he has a lot on the ball. He must hold it together for school and let it all hang out at home. We then went to Zachary's classroom, again glowing report. Plays well with others (he's 12), does his work, bright, never complains and a JOY to have in class. Needs to focus a bit more in Language arts. So, on to the next classroom, Wesley! Bright, does his work, participates, get on well with others, great sense of humor. One funny thing they mentioned about Wesley is that he has two desks.Yes, I said he has two desks. There was an empty desk next to him a few months ago, so he started piling some of his stuff in it. Everybody knows they are Wesley's desks. It's only fitting that he has two desks he needs them to house his many interesting personalities.

Two other occasions we have had special area teachers tell us what a great assets our 4 boys are to their school.

To God be the glory, Great things he has done!

On days when I could peddle away from it all on my bike, I hope I can remember how honored I am to be chosen by God to raise boys to be His men. They save all the STUPID stuff for home and give the world The Light. What more could a mother ask for?
