Leo the leapin'...

dachshund is Zack's new puppy. He asked for his own dog for Christmas. It was all he wanted. We agreed, but said we would like to adopt a dog from a local shelter. After several visits to shelters we hadn't found a dog that fit our family. Zack was willing to wait, and so were we. Then...

We visited the local pet store. Zack and Leo fell in love, and the rest is history. Leo is really too cute for words. Come to think of it Skipper (our 4 1/2 yr. old Lab)doesn't have any words for Leo, but I'm thinkin' he isn't thinkin' Leo is too cute for words! We'll leave it at cute!

He's a baby through and through. He can't be left alone ONE MINUTE, and he wants to be held most of the time especially when he's tired, he wants to fall asleep in your arms. He leaps rather than runs (hence the name Leapin' Leo) and he's extremely playful and friendly. Most importantly, Zack is in love with him!

Zack has always loved animals. He's had other pets over the years, but he really wanted a dog to train, and be his buddy! I was more than willing to let him have Skipper. The problem with that idea was Zack couldn't get him to stop following me everywhere. Chuck says that if I stop without warning, I might have to have him surgically removed from my rear end. Zack's tried to win Skippers affections by walking him and teaching him new tricks. It didn't work.

Now Zack has a puppy all his own. He's fully responsible for all his training. It's great to see him so content with his Christmas present.
